In the USA housing starts in the twelve months up to and including October, adapted to account for seasonal influences, increased by 13.7% to 1.290m units by comparison with the twelve-month period until September. According to the US Census Bureau, housing starts thus reached the highest level since the beginning of the year. Up to and including September, housing starts had dropped by 4.7% vis à vis August.
Building approvals as well as dwelling unit completions in the twelve months up to and including October were also each higher than the comparative values of the preceding month. Building approvals increased by 5.9% to 1.297m units. In the period covered by the report completion of residential units increased by 12.6% to 1.232m units compared to the preceding month.
