UPM obtains building permit to increase kilning capacity at Alholma sawmill

Finnish forest industry company UPM has obtained a building permit for increasing the kilning capacity at its Alholma sawmill in Pietarsaari in Finland. The expansion is expected to be completed in late summer 2018.

The expansion will enable a 10-15% increase to the sawmill's current annual capacity of sawn timber. The sawmill produces 270 000 m3 of redwood and whitewood sawn timber every year

Currently, 60 employees are directly employed by UPM Alholma sawmill. Altogether around 400 people work in the UPM Pietarsaari mill integrate in sawn timber and pulp production as well as in wood sourcing.
